Biography
Jérôme Verony
Based in Luxembourg. Work in EU policy, financial-technology research and financial supervision — and, since March 2025, the practice this site documents.
The useful question about a piece of analysis is not who wrote it but whether somebody else can take it apart. I have spent my working life on both sides of that question.
Since March 2025 I have run Iterative Intelligence, the practice this site documents: instruments that compute every number they show, live, in the browser rather than drawing a picture of a result, and a written standard each project is held to.
Before that I processed authorisation applications at the CSSF, Luxembourg's financial supervisor — payment institutions, electronic-money institutions, crypto-asset service providers — and tracked the rules underneath them as they moved: PSD2 and PSD3, the e-money directive, MiCAR, the EU case law. Earlier I led the flagship asset- and wealth-management publications of PwC Luxembourg's Global AWM & ESG Research Centre; earlier still, at the LHoFT Foundation, I reported to the CEO, ran technology and market research and its thematic working groups, sat as secretary to the board, carried Luxembourg's file as rapporteur for the EU Digital Finance Package, and answered the OECD's questions for its 2022 Economic Survey of Luxembourg. I began in Brussels, as an attaché at Luxembourg's Permanent Representation to the EU: the COASI committee, support to the Trade Policy Committee, and Commission working groups on TTIP and on Section 15 of China's WTO accession protocol.
Two things sit outside that line: an environmental start-up I founded in Shanghai in 2013, and two years of drug-development and market analysis written for paying subscribers under a pen name. Five of those pieces are republished here, each under a headnote grading how the call turned out. Failure kept is worth more than failure quietly dropped.
